Is this purple dead nettle?

Has anyone grown beets in containers? i'd like to plant some this year just as something different. i'm wondering if i should do something different with the dirt? AAAAnnnndddd I don't really know what to do with beets when they grow. how do you cook them? any ideas throw them my way please
