What’s the best money you ever made from a one-time thing?
Stealing this from a Reddit post I saw this morning—what’s the best money you ever made from a one-off thing?
Like flipping something, hitting a trend at the right time, taking advantage of a loophole?
I’ve got three off the top of my head:
1. Got paid $800 to fill out a questionnaire and click buttons on a computer for an hour. Clinical trial at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, 2014.
2. Put $250 into a meme coin and flipped it for $2,000 the next morning. 2021.
3. Some of the Upwork gigs I had at the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025. First one that comes to mind is $1,000 for home page copy that took me 1.5 hours, but didn’t wind up turning into a long-term project…because the client got banned from Upwork.
