Skiing today with some of the family. My daughter said to our granddaughter Erica (aged 7) “When you’re skiing fast in a straight line, try to look up and keep looking ahead”. Erica’s reply: “I’ve usually got my eyes closed”.

We’ve all been taken out by a snowboarder or over-confident teen skier or tripped on the stairs down to the mountain cafe lol. But most of my injuries have been daft. Annoyingly, each time, hitting my poor right shoulder. 1) Falling off the top of the Grand Pré chairlift and getting knocked over by the chair; 2) slipping on wooden decking outside a ski cafe; 3) slipping over on a wet patch on the floor of a hotel garage, where the lockers were situated. I’m sure there are much better stories…
