When you are focusing on things like filling out all the details of your ideal client, what they eat for dinner, what clothing they wear, how old they are, what is their favorite color, and even how they found you, you aren't focusing on meeting people who can put you in front of more potential clients.
*
Once believed filling out ideal client exercises were the thing that would bring in more clients because I would have more clarity on who they are.
*
Instead of going to networking events and having coffee chats with real people, filled out ideal client avatar worksheets thinking about imaginary people, or thinking about that one friend who I thought needed what I sold but would never buy it. Really didn’t have any idea of who would be ready for, and benefit from my services.
*
Think about how you actually help people, then the right people who actually want your help will find you when you put yourself out there. Had this aha moment a while ago, but reading the post of someone who has a completely different philosophy from my reminded me of it. Knowing that there is someone out there doing ideal client exercises when they would benefit more from networking and actually talking to people has me feeling activated.

Many so called coaching programs have exercises like that in them. They really should be called marketing training, or depending on the amount of hand holding, mentor ship.
*
Quit filling out that ideal client worksheet and put a coffee chat with someone new on your calendar instead, knowing that this chat will help more with clarity than imaginary worksheets and fantasies about people. Regardless of how the coffee chat goes, whether you want to do a collaboration, they want to buy from you, you want to buy from them, or you want to never talk to them again, you have more clarity.
