When I had deeper conversations with men and women at a recent networking event I hosted, I realized men can also get impostor syndrome.
*
Impostor syndrome can effect anyone. Talking about it made me realize I wasn’t alone in struggling with it. Some of the techniques people talked about to overcome it were things I already used that helped me. Also learned this is a thing that can come back as you level up.

Past me thought that maybe somehow being a woman was the sole reason for feeling like an impostor, that somehow men were conditioned to always be able to overcome it instantly. And while there are certainly environmental causes of it, using the excuse of being of women for not being successful was not helping me.

Part of stretching yourself sometimes is feeling like an impostor. Having it be re-framed, as not a bad thing and a sign that you are growing was a new mindset for me, something one of the men in that group had learned from his coach, and shared with us.

Impostor syndrome doesn’t have to hold you back from taking action. Others have challenges too, even if they are different from yours. This allows you to find tools that help you overcome impostor syndrome so that you can keep taking aligned action without thoughts of impostor syndrome holding you back.

Want to go to more networking events like that where you meet people outside of your circles, it isn’t just small talk, and you come away with new aligned connections?
