Every relationship can be a growth vehicle if we allow it. In order for us to grow from a relationship, we must be able to receive and recognize feedback. Sometimes people just give us feedback. Other times, we receive feedback by observation. What results do we want? Try to focus on loved ones feeling loved, important, appreciated and respected. How do you know this if this is happening or not? ASK! How am I doing as your husband or dad? What can I do better? Now, be prepared for the answers. If you ask, but deflect, ignore or argue with their answers they will not feel free to provide you feedback in the future. Challenge: Ask an important person how they think you're doing? They may want more clarification, so tell them your goal is for them to feel loved, important, appreciated and respected in your presence. Be humble in your response. We will have more posts about how to listen with humility soon. Lead with integrity!
