I was rereading Stephen Covey's "First Things First." If you haven't read it, I recommend it. Half of the book covers the gap between how we spend our time (clock) and what's important to us (compass- going in the right direction). Many times what's urgent takes all of our attention and we neglect what's truly important. Let's put First Things First this week. For some of you, this will require a great deal of attention and intention. Where to start? Make sure the important gets its rightful time and place.
Things you might deem important, but sometimes or frequently neglect:
Physical exercise
Spiritual exercise
Spending time with loved ones
Self-care
Learning new things, languages, skills
Getting enough sleep/rest
Spending time in gratitude
Showing sincere appreciation to others
Quiet time, reflection, pondering etc.
Home maintenance, cleaning
Socializing with and serving friends and neighbors
Financial planning
Volunteering for or mentoring others
Tell us what you're going to no longer neglect and report back.
