We all wish everybody a happy birthday on LinkedIn and we use our templates. But you have those special AAA prospects that you'd like to open up a conversation, so you want to come up with something unique. Here's an idea that I've been using and it works really well. I work with an app called Mailbox Power. I have a birthday card program that I send out a special birthday card and a gourmet birthday brownie to my friends.

What I've done is I've got a templated birthday greeting that goes something like this.

Happy Birthday, [name]! 🎉 I saw it was your special day, and I wanted to do something a little better than the standard LinkedIn text message.

I’d love to send a real birthday treat (a gourmet brownie!) straight to your door to help you celebrate.

P.S. Make sure to still include your birth date on the form so I can keep the celebrations going and remember your special day for years to come! 🎂"

This will cost you about $12.00 to get data on the customer plus starts a conversation. The critical thing you need to execute is follow up. Ask him how he liked the brownie, bring up business in a casual way, ask questions. The Law of Reciprocity kicks in when you send a birthday gift.
