Generating engagement can be tough

If you have a blog or website with blog pages, write a news column etc... on a smaller publication or maybe your site is NEW. How are you working through gaining engagement and getting that first few comments on each post?

I myself am using comment seeding by networking with other bloggers looking to build their brand and gain exposure. I also set up fan pages and groups on social sites, and forums focusing on my niche. My New blog is all about building blogs that scale, monetize, and last. I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas below.
