I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse of 22 years, and have 28 years experience working in adult, child, and adolescent inpatient and community settings. It is not just my professional experience that gives me my depth of knowledge; it is my life experience. I experienced adverse childhood experiences ACEs) in the form of developmental trauma and neglect. I was given up by my parents and went into a children's home run by Catholic Nuns, where I spent 10 years until the age of 16. Having a poor sense of who I was, I struggled in every area of my life. I set up this community because the one thing that keeps being repeated to me is, "nothing helps me to 'feel' better.
