Thought i would share some tips for the people wanting to lift the inch dumbell. When i trained for it i used a pinch block, wrist wrench, rolling handle and a custom inch trainer.
I think the wrist wrench is one of the best tools for battling the rotation. If you are using a inch trainer its important to get the weights to not rotate separate from the handle. Everything should be tightened so hard that it replicates the inch.
Where to place the hand? I see many people start with the wrist offset from center. In my opinion the easiest way is if your wrist is straight and straight above the handle. I prefer to place my thumb all the way forward towards the bell. This makes it rotate less and helps me lift level. If tilt lift is the goal first, its better to place it in the middle. Tilting is okay and good for training, but im in the group that believes a real inch lift should be level. I also try to focus on battling the rotation when lifting by trying to wrist curl the inch while lifting. If that makes sense. I think if you can lift 45kg on the wrist wrench you should be strong enough to stop the rotation from the inch.
Another last tip is to strenghten the thumb. I use the oitevoima thumb trainer, but you can easily make something yourself also.
