Releasing music, setting up socials, registering songs, building a brand: it can get overwhelming fast. The truth? There’s no perfect sequence for all of it, but there is a smarter way to approach it.
Here’s a quick breakdown to help you stay focused and on track:
The Order of Operations (Simplified):
- Check Your Artist Name AvailabilityMake sure it’s clear, unique, and available on Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and as a .com.
- Create & Finish Your MusicYou can’t grow your brand without finished tracks. Get your songs done and dialed in.
- Protect Your WorkCopyright your song before release. After release, register with:
- Set Up Your SocialsDon't wait until release day. Build and engage before you drop music.
- Release StrategicallyUse a trusted distributor. Plan your promo and visuals in advance.
- Build Your WebsiteThis will become your digital HQ. Even a simple site helps you look pro.
- Define Your Brand & StoryWho are you? What’s your message? What do you look and feel like as an artist?
- Develop a Live ShowWhether it’s DJ sets, live instruments, or hybrid performance, start thinking about it now.
This journey is more like a loop than a straight line. You’ll revisit each of these steps many times as you grow. Just keep stacking wins and showing up consistently.
Keep creating, keep building. Let me know where you’re at with this. I’m here to help.
