Hello, I'm Mimi and am excited to be a part of this!!! I was going to school to work towards a career for opera and was going to really commit to it, but then my life took a turn and I discovered that the classical life is only a facet of me. I discovered that what I truly want is to create art in all different sorts of ways rather than just performing in opera. I found out recently that I'd do great in the pop industry as a singer-songwriter and be far happier taking that path! I've always loved art, especially in the form of music, and I've been experimenting a whole lot with my sound and style. snippet of my cover of "the Girl Who Sells Misfortune": https://www.instagram.com/p/DV5tQDtD4Su/ cover I made of "Love Me, Love Me, Love Me": https://www.instagram.com/p/DUkLmU7ju-q/ insta reel for a song I didn't make the beat for (lol): https://www.instagram.com/p/DVsoXbLD8RB/ insta reel for a song I wrote with mediocre guitar skills: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSoOurGEQ3J/ I generally have a very good idea on who and what I want to be in the near future, but my main struggle has been a high rate of abandoning solo projects. I've made some solo stuff that I'm proud of, but I really prefer and enjoy collaboration and working with people. Therefore, I've been trying to network as much as humanly possible and connect with others! My favorite thing that's come out of my art is the community and connections I've built, and so I guess when that's missing--- I feel lonely in the world, somewhat empty, and less motivated. I want to work on being able to do things myself easily without relying on others, but I cannot deny that I definitely love people and prefer working with brilliant artists even as an independent solo artist. It makes bringing artistic visions to life so much more fun! I have released some music onto Spotify and SoundCloud, but am trying to recalibrate my identity (especially on Spotify). When I write songs from scratch, they tend to end up having a very folk-song sound and I take pride in my ability to write lyrics and melodies, as well as knowing what I like and what I don't like. As much as I love "organic" folk sounds, I like to cover pre-existing songs as well as experiment with beats other people make on the internet to write lyrics for and sing over.
