🔥 Stop Overcomplicating Your Skool Community! Here's What Actually Works 🔥
Here's an AI summary of today's call. We talked about Skool 😁 Now, I might not agree with this summary 100%, but we can keep that to the comment. Yes, the title was also generated 😉 Key Themes & Takeaways: 1. Platform Basics 🏗️ - Think of Skool like Instagram, not Reddit - it's all about the feed - The simple setup might feel limiting but hey, that's where creativity kicks in - New folks just need 3 things: know their people, nail their offer, get their message right 2. Money Stuff 💰 - The whole free vs. paid debate? Here's the deal: - Most say start free, upsell later - No following? Build one free community first - Can do both tiers in one spot (but it's a headache) - Try selling some 1:1 calls before jumping into paid community 3. Growing Your Thing 🌱 - Start small - shoot for 300-400 members first - Get people actually doing stuff, not just hanging out - Don't rush the sales pitch - let them ask for more - Mix in some one-off stuff like coaching calls 4. Content That Works 📚 - "Educational marketing" = teaching while selling (without being salesy) - It's way more natural than pushy marketing - Focus on teaching good stuff - Make everything you post count Quick Tips 💡 - Make it crystal clear what your community's about - Skip the fancy bells and whistles - Build real connections through teaching - When you test stuff, go all in (half-effort = garbage results) The Real Deal 🎯 Forget the complicated stuff. The best communities nail the basics: clear purpose, real value, and genuine connections through solid teaching. Ready to roll? Start by making sure everyone knows exactly what your community's about, then focus on delivering some seriously good educational content. The rest will follow! Starting a new Skool community? 💡Hyperlinks in DMs and Auto Dms
To have a hyperlink in a DM, just add the text you want to link like so: [Educate] and then the link itself (jo.my/educate) That will create a link in your DMs that looks like this: Educate Structure: [text](link) (no spaces between them) You can DM me and test this out if you want 👍 Thank you @Sarah Hankins for the tip.
💡Better not use the video recording feature in the Skool app...
Why? Because it tries uploading it directly to the post, comment, or course page. Which is fine when it works. But when it doesn't, you lose your video. The app doesn't add your video to the photo library on your phone so you don't have a backup when things go bad. Just use your favorite camera app instead and add it using the upload feature. It only takes a bit more time, but you'll have a backup. @Sarah Hankins this post was inspired by your situation 🙈
YouTube verification - only two channels per year*
Pro tip 😅 Don't play around with creating too many YouTube channels. You can only verify two per year with one phone number. And sure, you can use your spouse's phone number etc., but then you'll need to bother them every time YouTube asks you to verify.
