Foraging journal Entry 2/1/26
"Full moon today. Snow is still on the ground. Lots of birds at the feeder today. Do squirrels stay in their nests curled up under the snow? They enter a state of torpor during extreme cold. They will huddle together in shared nests for warmth"
I was looking at the squirrel nests in the trees around my house and noticed the snow piled on top. I didn't see any of them out running around so I learned new things about squirrels today. I didn't know they shared their nests. So cute πŸ₯° I also didn't know that they could go into a state of torpor πŸ₯Ά Interesting stuff!
