In yesterday's Q&A, Dianna asked, "๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ฅ๐ฐ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ฉ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ด๐ญ๐ฆ๐บ?"
And while we definitely talked about Parsley recipes, we also covered some fun facts about Parsley that I wanted to share with everyone!

- ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐น๐ฒ๐ต is a Middle Eastern salad, typically made with a buttload of parsley + cucumbers, tomatoes, mint, wheat grain, lemon juice, and olive oil. I've even made it with chickpeas & quinoa before in place of the wheat grain. Super delish and fresh in the summer!
- Another fave is ๐๐ต๐ถ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ถ, an Argentinian sauce made from (you guessed it, a lot of parsley ๐คฃ) + vinegar, olive oil, and other herbs that pairs beautifully with veggies (like roasted potatoes), or steak ๐
- Cindy said she loves putting parsley in soups and stews and over fresh-baked fish
- Faye said she is obsessed with parsley and grows it any chance she gets! (Ok, just kidding, she most definitely did not say that ๐คฃ)
And because I just KNOW you were dying for some parsley trivia today... Here are some fun facts you can share at your next dinner party ๐

Meaning it has a 2-year lifecycle. It grows lots of leaves in the first year, then flowers and goes to seed in the second year. Which means it's a great herb to start a new succession planting of each year.
Parsley is a primary food source for Black Swallowtail caterpillars. Look out for bright green & black striped caterpillars about mid-summer. (3rd photo)
- Flat is my personal fave. It has a much stronger, more robust flavor.
- Curly has a milder taste. And I personally find it a little more annoying to chop. (Don't tell it I said that). But it makes a pretty garnish and is great for adding texture/depth to a flower bed design.ย

That garnish isnโt just there for looks ๐. Parsley is rich in chlorophyll, which acts as a natural deodorizer. Chewing a sprig after dinner doesn't just make you look like a bunny; it actually works better than most mints, which usually just mask smelly breath.

Per 100g, parsley contains more vitamin C than an orange! 133-190 mg in ๐ฟ vs. approx 53 mg in an๐. INSANE.
PLANTS ARE SO COOL.
Whoโs planting parsley this year?!
P.S. Have you ever seen a leaf that size?!
This was from my parsley โbushโ in my old garden (RIP), and itโs such a reliable herb for me. It survived 100โ+ (38โ+) days through Texas summer and the cold 10โ (-12โ) of winter!
If you have other recipe ideas, share those below, too!
