What happens when you stop waiting for the perfect momentâand just dance in public where anyone can see?
Thatâs the challenge I set for myself.
For 7 days, Iâm freestyling outside in public spaces.
No stage lights.
No class mirror.
Just me, the song, and whoeverâs around.
The mission: to practice presence, push past fear, and build freedom in how I show up.
Day 1 started with âLuckyâ by Luchane. Britney Spears was a favorite of mine growing up, and this cover transforms one of her ballads into something even more soulful and emotional. It also brought me back to my grandmaâs musicâjazz, soul, gospel, bluesâthe sounds that shaped my ear and feel like home.
And hereâs the truth: it stretched me. Jazz and soul are still the hardest for me to freestyle to because they require vulnerability and technicality. But leaning into that fearâespecially in publicâfelt like the right way to start this journey.
