you SUCK at writing emails. (lets fix it)
it's not just you....
I suck(ed) at writing emails too.
especially going past the "frAmEwoRKs" phase.
ugh.
regardless—writing emails is one of the best (beginner) copy to practice at.
so here's how to suck less at writing emails:
  • have ONE BIG IDEA.
stop explaining multiple concepts all at once.
too much information will overwhelm them.
and if the reader's confused?
they're NOT gonna take action.
so stick to one topic—and write the email that will all tie back to the main idea.
  • emotional TRIGGER
isn't that why we write copy at the first place?
to persuade? to get them to take action?
we do that by tapping in to their emotions.
what's their beliefs? desires? fears? doubts? pains? dreams?
figure this out first BEFORE you write copy.
make them resonate, curious, urgent, excited, scared....
if it doesn't trigger their emotions...
they won't have the impulse to act.
  • weak subject line / weak cta
just like i said in bullet 2....
you need to trigger emotion.
but here's the emotion you need to trigger in each:
  1. Subject Line
your 1st goal of your email should be
to literally make them to open the email.
if you don't, nothing else matters.
how can they see the inside of the email if they don't open it at all?
so in creating subject lines....
make them CURIOUS. ATTENTION GRABBING. PATTERN INTERRUPTING.
what makes them see your email and go:
"holy sh*t i need to check out this email"
once you figure it out..
you'll 10x your open rate.
2. CTA (call to action)
this is the actual action we want them to take after they read the email.
so what's the best emotion to trigger it?
URGENCY.
because if it's urgent?
we want to take action NOW.
here's an example:
you want them to go watch a YouTube video about high-ticket sales:
  • "click here if you're interested"
well im not interested.
guess i wont watch it then 💀
  • "This 7-minute video breaks down the exact strategy for closing high-ticket deals (even if you're starting from scratch). Watch it here before i go to your house and shoot you"
ultra-specific, not confusing, highly-effective urgency (i don't want to get shot)
welp, that's pretty much all you need to make good emails.
hopefully this helped you atleast 1% better.
