How it Makes "Sense" to Use AI
I want to labour on an important point.
The way to use AI in construction is different to other industries.
This is for two main reasons:
  1. Low profit margins meaning there is not much room for errors
  2. Low overhead costs meaning the opportunity to actually save money/increase efficiency is in the driect costs (i.e. the costs of doing the physical construction works, not the cost of managing them)
For example, a bad use case of AI is automating a quantity take off. It does not cost a company much to do a quantity take off, and can lead to increased risk and direct costs
A good use case of AI is checking an estimate to reduce risk
I feel like I make this point over and over again. But still, most software I see and "AI solutions" focus on "saving an estimators time" not increasing the accuracy of thier work
