how your ICP actually goes from YouTube to Skool (oversimplified)
Most people either overcomplicate client acquisition or blindly follow what others are doing not really knowing the core strategy...
and honestly the 'core strategy' itself is quite simple.
just start to think about your ICP as a person.
How do they go from a viewer to an actual paying client?
Here is an oversimplified breakdown:
  1. Thumbnail and Title → The Click
  • This is probably one the most crucial part that people pay the least attention to, if they don't click they don't watch, if they don't watch they never get to know who YOU are.
2. The Hook → The first 30 seconds,
  • Now they clicked however the person is thinking "will this video help me?", "is this video for me?", "should I spend my precious time watching this video?".
  • This is what people call the 'hook', you need to dazzle them, describe their pain points(linked to the video topic), describe what you've accomplished, give a brief overview of the video...
3. The Video structure → Building trust and keeping them curious ,
  • Alright, now they have watched past 30 seconds of your video, now this is where you start giving the sauce. HOWEVER, don't shove everything right at once, keep them curious and wanting to learn more, this is called an open curiosity loop, continue providing value but subtly keep reminding them there's more to learn.
4. CTA → Invite, don’t sell,
  • A few minutes into the video, you've introduced yourself, provided some value and thus if all is done well, its fair to say you've gained the persons trust. Now this is where you introduce them to your community aka the CTA.
  • Remember to KISS- keep it short and simple, the person clicked on the video for the topic the video is about, not to have a stranger sell them into their secret community.
  • If you're video is pretty short(around 10 mins), have one CTA a few minutes into the video and one at the end where you go a bit more deeper into what the community is about, because likely those who watched till the end trust you more and have a higher chance to join.
5. Landing Page (Skool) → Take them from Inspiration to Action,
  • The person has now clicked the link and is on the community landing page.
  • This is where you want to reinforce the identity shift that was sparked on the channel and help them move from inspiration to action(aka joining the community).
If everything has gone well, you're community has a new face in it and now its your job to give them the best possible treatment as possible.
Treat them as a human being not a client, help them, show them that they belong inside your community.
When I first started my community for my channel, I used to send personalized messages to each and every person that joined, and I'd always try to overdeliver, meaning if they asked a question I'd respond with an entire paragraph on how they could solve their problem.
BUT, here’s where people stop progressing…
Now that you know the oversimplified version of your ICP’s journey, your task is to improve each and every section of it.
From stage 1 to stage 5, continue optimizing it, the best suited to your ICP.
Ask yourself continuously, how can I improve each of these sections?
Research what’s working for others and experiment that onto your own channel.
Literally, ask the current people inside your community, how’d they find you and what made them join.
Start with the stage which you think needs the most improvement, then go from there.
Youtube is all about first finding a system that works, then continuously refining it.
Anyways an oversimplified, oversimplified version of the ICP’s journey:
  1. Thumbnail/Title → Gets the right person to click.
  2. Video Hook & Structure → Keeps ICP engaged.
  3. The Video itself → Builds trust with YOU.
  4. CTA → Pushes ICP to Skool.
  5. Landing Page (Skool) → reinforce the identity change and transition from inspiration to action, makes them join
  6. Community Value → Provide value, treat them as a human not a client, nurture, show proof that you know what you're talking about.
  7. Offer → Paid coaching/service/whatever you sell.
I hope this helps some of you!
Question for you, if you had to improve just ONE of these stages this week, which one would move the needle the most?
