πŸ’Έ Money Myths at 50 πŸŽ‰ (no, it's not too late!)
I turned 50 yesterday πŸŽ‚
One year ago, on my 49th birthday, I woke up in a full-blown panic. My head had been firmly in the sand and I had no real sense of whether Future Me was going to be OK.
So I did something uncomfortable:
I looked. Properly πŸ‘€
And I’m in a significantly better place now than I was just one year ago.
Over the last year, here are the five things that made the biggest difference:
1️⃣ I examined my money mindset β€” the stories, shame, and avoidance I’d absorbed
2️⃣ I got clear on my actual numbers (messy, imperfect, but real)
3️⃣ I learnt a bit about investing β€” because I had never been taught
4️⃣ I built an emergency fund, so I stopped yo-yoing in and out of stress and debt
5️⃣ I started paying myself first β€” because no one else was going to look after future me
None of this required being β€œgood with money.” I just needed to get educated and get started.
Midlife is NOT too late to sort your finances out, it's actually a powerful moment to take control - with more wisdom and more perspective.
I have a community for women who want 2026 to be the year money stops being a source of anxiety and starts becoming a source of safety. Come join us!
