I have a tip and 3 questions.
Tip: I tape the starting end of the yarn onto the base of the yarn winder to make the end easier to find.
Question#1: I’m finding it better to lay the yarn on the floor to avoid tangles in the yarn while it’s winding. What does everyone else do with their yarn skeins while winding?
Question #2: how do you decide how large to wind one ball? I have some one pound yarn skeins. I’ve been cutting them in an estimated half because it appears to me that the ball is getting too large. What is the maximum you make your balls?
Question #3: I have some knots where yarn ends have been joined together in the yarn ball. Will the knots be a problem in the Addi or the Caydo icord maker?
Please excuse the bags in the background of the picture. My sewing room is a mess, I’m reorganizing it. I have way too much of a hoard going on. I’m stash busting not just yarn, but fabric too. I’m working on various stash busting projects. Making things as I go. Like a sewing machine cover, fabric boxes to sort thread and notions into, thread catchers and machine pads.
Right now I’m winding all my yarn into pretty cakes with the intention of making a lot of icord in different colors for wire flowers and names/words. And I want to make the new purse pattern. 😍.
Does winding all my yarn count as completing a stash busting project?
