A Few Thoughts On Batch Knitting For Craft Fairs
Today is day three of four of doing crafts shows this week and I have sold probably $1000 in stuff, (not that I get to keep all of that by the time I buy yarn to replace what I have used.)
Everyone keeps telling me that thos a good problem to have and I agree, but it is exhausting.
I get up at 4:30 to make as much as I can before the show. Every spare moment during the show, I am making things and I will go home and work until 9pm tonight making more.
This is where batch knitting becomes important. I focus on a specific product at a time. Today at the show is the tubes for the loop shawl and then as they come off the machine, I close one end and cinch the other, so when I get home and have more sitting space, I can sew them together.
I am getting low on loop scarfs, so tonight I will make the pieces for them tonight, then get up early tomorrow to finish some, before coming in today.
I alao track what inventory I have so I always know which ones to make.
By batch knitting I can produce more in a shorter space of time.
