Outside of playing bass, what do you enjoy doing?
I’m curious, what do you enjoy doing outside of music? It’s easy to get so caught up in music and forget that we are all real people here. Let me know, what are you into outside of music?

What licks/bass lines would you like me to breakdown?
Hey team, I need suggestions for bass lines to breakdown and tab out for you! Post the link to videos or songs you’d like me to breakdown some of the bass lines for here in the “transcribe this” tab. Make sure to give a specific timestamp as I’ll most likely only do a couple of bars of each.

Introduce Yourself!
Hey everyone, So excited to have you here. I'm Caleb and grew up playing bass in church but had no one to teach me & was self taught by force. Often we wear self taught as a badge of honour but it's not until I went to uni that I realised how limiting that was for me. Long story short, did my music degree & had a career as a professional bassist in TV, Film, The West End and session work. Now I teach on a music degree course and want to build a community to bring that level of education to people looking to play in church so you don't have to do it the hard way. Let’s learn from each other and let’s shed 👀 Please start by saying hi and introducing yourself below in the comments and let us know how long you've been playing & where you're based. Oh and also, this community is going to reach a wide range of people from different cultures, countries, communities and walks of life so be respectful with everyone and stick to talking about playing bass in church. Any ferocious doctrine or cultural debates will have you removed as that takes away from what this is for - helping people learn to play bass & serve better in churches.
All You Need Is a Bass and an Amp (...and tuner!)
Yes, bass family! If you've been sucked into The rabbit hole that is Bass gear and pedals, I want to reopen the conversation that all you need is a Bass Amp and a Bass Guitar. You don't need all the pedals and different types of basses unless you're playing at the highest of levels, and even then NEED is an overstretch. Many of you will even argue if the bass Amp is still necessary, but as I mentioned in the video, nothing is quite like playing in front of an amp that is moving physical air. Let me know your thoughts. What stage are you at with your playing and how necessary is having multiple pedals and bases to choose from for you?
Pentatonics and knowing your chord tones will give you all the mileage you need!
Hello bass family, I taught a great private lesson this morning and it reminded me on how effective getting just chord tones and pentatonics down can change your playing when combined with appropriate rhythm and weight in your sound. What do you feel is often overlooked or has changed the game in your playing?
