When was the last time someone genuinely needed your help?
Not your money. Not your advice.Just you.
One of the surprises of retirement is that many people miss being needed more than they miss the job itself.
For years, people called us because we could solve problems, support others, make decisions, or simply lend a hand.
Then one day it stops.
The phone rings less. The emails slow down. The diary becomes empty.
Many people think retirement is about having more free time.
I've come to believe it's about finding new ways to matter.
That might mean volunteering.Helping a neighbour.Joining a community group.Mentoring someone younger.Or simply checking in on a friend who might be doing it tough.
Purpose doesn't disappear when we retire.
It just changes address.
So here's my question:
What is one thing you do today that makes you feel useful, valued, or connected?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
