Hi everyone, There's one important thing I probably hadn't made clear yet. When you go to your Library and want to choose a paperback to review, the number of books shown will be reduced for a few weeks. We're doing this to verify that everything works correctly, and that everyone who supports other authors with their reviews receives their own as soon as they request them. At least at the beginning, the percentage of users using paperback reviews will probably be much lower than those using Kindle reviews. And on the smaller marketplaces compared to .com, we obviously have fewer users at the moment. That's why we need as many users as possible using this feature: it's how we can remove the Library limitations as soon as possible and give all of you more choice. So we're asking for your help. You can do it by spreading the word about BookVillage in the self-publishing communities and groups you're part of. This post is important, so please read it until the end. For the last few weeks my guys and I have been testing the new version of BookVillage, screen by screen. Today it is live, and it is the most advanced platform ever in terms of safety and promotion balance. Here is what changes compared to before: 1. TWO COUNTERS, PROMOTION SLOTS AND CREDIT IN DOLLARS You now see how many promotions you can activate (your promotion slots) and your credit in dollars, which decides the type of review you can request. Kindle and paperback each have their own counters, and neither slots nor credit ever mix: Kindle Credit for ebooks, Paperback Credit for paperbacks. 2. YOU RECEIVE EXACTLY WHAT YOU GIVE Every review you post adds one promotion slot and credit based on the review type. Every promotion you request takes one slot and the matching credit away. So whoever contributes always gets the support they deserve, and the imbalances of other platforms, where you pile up coins and then wait months for a few reviews, become impossible. If you follow me in the communities or in my YouTube interviews, you know I have been talking about this for a year. 3. PAPERBACK VERIFIED PURCHASE REVIEWS They work per Amazon marketplace: a paperback assignment completed on amazon.com earns you a paperback promotion and Paperback Credit there, and a paperback promotion you activate on amazon.com is received 100% on amazon.com, unlike ebooks. Hardcover counts as paperback. Your Library shows only the paperback promotions of the marketplace set in your Reader Profile. Most members post on amazon.com, so that is where you will find the widest choice. For the first few weeks, active promotions will appear in the Library gradually while we test that everything works 1000%. If you find no paperback assignment to book, check again a little later. 4. PHOTO AND VIDEO REVIEWS Authors can ask for them on paperback. You earn that right by posting one yourself.
