Beginner Dinner is happening in 19 days
START HERE!
Welcome to the Village! I want to make sure you get the greatest possible benefit from this group. PleaseI start by introducing yourself, and then, stop in every day and make many friends. I promise to log in every day to keep an eye out for questions. On this wall, I can only answer questions that can be answered, briefly, but if you are a premium member, which will be just $12 a month until the end of the year, we will have a Beginner Dinner live Zoom call once a month, on the second Thursday, for you to ask any questions. You'll be mainly using one or two areas of this Skool group. You'll be mainly focusing on the discussion on this wall, and as you can see, there is already a Breathing Easily Masterclass. If you are in the premium tier, you'll spend an equal amount of time in the Classroom, and of course, participate in the monthly Beginner Dinner Building friendships with other runners will enhance every part of your running journey. I am super happy to have you here! How to use Discussion Categories: • QUESTIONS for Deb: The place to ask two types of questions. One, brief questions I can answer in a couple of sentences. Two, longer questions I can answer in the monthly Beginner Dinner for premium members. For these, start with "This is for this month's Beginner Dinner (Live Q & A.)" • ANNOUNCEMENTS: These will be announcements from me. • INSPIRATION: This is where you - or I - post anything we believe will be inspiring to the members of this community, whether it be a milestone you reached, a motivational quote, or an article. • PODCASTS: This is where I'll link to each episode when it goes live. • EXERCISES and DRILLS: I'll share the ones I feel are most important and most appropriate for beginners
Run Tampa's Weekend
What did you do, yesterday? Did you get any miles in? You know the saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"? Well, that was on my mind as we ran. The humidity was off the charts, but we gritted it out. The reward is always the camaraderie of time with friends.
Run Tampa's Weekend
Thank you Coach Deb
Thank you @Debbie Voiles for putting on such a comprehensive beginner program. I found the information was pitched at the right level - and there is so much to it! Thank you for generously offering to host another meeting in 3 weeks. That's encouragement for me to get it together and make big strides in the coming weeks. Perfect timing with the autumn weather here now.
Introduction
I’m “identifying” as a beginner runner because I’m starting over. I’m 55 now. 8 years ago I started running in Atlanta with the Atlanta track club. I completed 5Ks. I completed the famous Peachtree Road Race (10k) twice. Then I completed a Half. During that Half, I tore my meniscus. No surgery, just PT was required to recover. But I stopped running. :( Life happened and I didn’t get right back on the horse. Since moving to Sarasota 6 years ago, I’ve only run a handful of times. Fast forward to today and I am registered for the Skyway bridge 10K run in March. Running that bridge has been a goal since moving here. So, I decided to start fresh as a beginner to prepare for that run, but also ensure I don’t cause injury by moving too fast. I am fortunate enough to get that “Runner’s High” and I want to experience that again and on into life.

We all started at Square One!
The main reason so many would-be runners fail is that they try to skip steps and not start at Square One, not start at the appropriate, logical beginning for them. To succeed, you must figure out where your Square One is and begin there. Podcast #57 comes out tomorrow, and it is about figuring out your Square One. That's my great friend, Nancy. We've both been running for decades; fortunately, we both identified the right Square One for us. We've both had our ups and downs. Running has gotten us both through hard times and brought us great adventure.
