Badminton training - shadow exercise #1
Shadow training - for theese three exercises you will not need the shuttlecock. Usually we use this kind of exercise in the beggining of the training, but you can use it in any part. For following three exercises, one player (or coach) will stand in front of the net (on the same side as other player) facing to the other player. Second player stand in the middle of the court (depends on each exercise) with a racket. Player/coach in front of the net points to one of the corners, second player has to do split step, move to that corner and play a shot (without shuttle - each exercise is different shot). For pointing you can use hand, or racket (easier for working player is when you point by the grip of the racket). After the movement to the corner, working player comes back to the same place. Don’t point to another corner till working player comes back. 1. exercise: - Player 1 randomly points to one of 4 corners (no mid court) - Player 2 stands in the middle of the court, but a little bit closer to the front line - After Player 1 points to the corner, Player 2 does a split step and move to that corner and plays the shot without the shuttle - Shots to play: - if player 2 has to go to the front (red line), he has to move faster with intension of playing net kill. - if player 2 has to go to the back (green line), he has to move fast with intension of playing drop or clear (no smash). 2. exercise: - Nearly the same as 1. exercise with these differences: - Player 2 stands in the middle of the court but closer to back line - if player 2 has to go to the front (green line), he has to move fast with intension of playing soft net shot or lob (no net kill). - if player 2 has to go to the back (red line), he has to move faster with intension of smash. 3. exercise: - Nearly the same as 1. And 2. exercise with these differences: - Player 2 stands in the middle of the court - Player 1 can now point to 6 corners including middle court - if player 2 has to go to the front (green line), he has to move fast with intension of playing soft net shot or lob (no net kill). - if player 2 has to go to the back (green line), he has to move fast with intension of drop or clear. - if player 2 has to go to the middle court (red line), he has to move faster with intension of smash or stick smash.
