Welcome to AviatorHub
Welcome to AviatorHub. An online community that helps to bring together those interested in aviation and enables those with a passion for the Aviation industry to share stories, ideas, information, news, tips and soooo much more. Combined with AviatorHub we have Aviatorjob, which helps companies find skilled people within our industry and will be sharing tips and advice to help you find what you want. For now, to kick start things off, I wish to share a bit about myself and invite you to share your story as everyone is different. I look forward to connecting with you all and welcoming you to the community. Born in Brazil, to Scottish parents, I always had a passion for aviation. I dreamed of becoming a pilot one day and wanted to join the Royal Air Force after school. However, my careers advisor had other ideas and deemed that I would not be suitable or capable to become one. After having to change my "life plan" I went to university to study business management. Safe to say that it wasn't what I really wanted to do but back then getting a degree was almost a necessity and dare I say it expected. Having graduated, I had a number of jobs, none of which I truly enjoyed and had it not been for one fortunate day whilst working for a world leading car rental company that I met a man who owned a flying school. He, opened my eyes to the opportunities and reignited my desire and passion to become a pilot again. BUT...... it was going to be a long, hard road. After 3 years (including having to take a year off due to having to care for my brother that was nearly killed in an accident) I qualified and never looked back. Since then, I have worked in Oil and Gas with Bristow in the North Sea flying out of Aberdeen and Shetland, been made redundant, retained and become a hoisting pilot in Germany to offshore wind farms before moving back to the UK to continue in this field before hanging up my offshore survival suit to learn the ropes in HEMS where I currently fly for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. Something that I always wished to do but had my reservations about due to the nature of the work. That said, I love the job helping save lives and working with some of the most amazing people.

Photo Competition
Here we go.... a cheeky challenge. Let's have a look at your snaps over the past year. If you have taken any amazing aviation related photos that you can share, then put them in the comments below. Here is one of my favourites from the last year whilst out on an NVIS tasking. It was early morning with a good moon and this was the photo I got from our landing site. It looks like it has been photoshopped but it hasn't. I look forward to seeing your contributions. James

FUDs
FUDs is a an acronym for: Fear Uncertainty Doubt These are the three fundamental factors that will kill any dream or aspiration that you want to achieve. FEAR: Fear is a primal instinct that is engrained in us that causes us to fight, take flight (run away) or freeze. Whilst it can be used as a motivator to achieve objectives by taking the fight approach more often than not this only comes out when a life threatening situation presents itself. Fear is something that humans have evolved with to help survive in a dangerous world. The key to overcoming fear is to recognise it, rationally think about what is causing the fear (is you life actually in danger?) then take action. The best way to overcome fear is by taking action. By taking action, you are helping to eliminate the fear by subconsciously proving to yourself that you are able to overcome that thing/ problem that is causing the fear in the first place. When you consistently do this your mind becomes tuned to the fact that there is nothing to fear and enable you to overcome it which in turn also gives you confidence. UNCERTAINTY: Uncertainty is a form of fear that stems from being unsure of something or an outcome. Everyone have experienced uncertainty at some point in their life. It often manifests in delayed decisions being made or actions being taken and as such one of the best methods of overcoming uncertainty is to gather as much factual information about what is causing you uncertainty. By gathering the information you can make informed decisions that will help direct you to a decision that will make you more certain. Like fear, uncertainty requires you to take action to gather the information that is needed to make you more certain of a decision or outcome. DOUBT: Doubt is also another form of fear that is played on you by your brain. Your brain questions itself as to whether you are correct or not and as such the doubt creeps is under the radar making you feel uncertain about your decisions or an outcome.
FUD Busters Guide
Following my general discussion post regarding FUDs, I thought that it would be worthwhile to offer some help to overcome FUDs. My FUD Busters Guide. I hope it will help you to move forward and overcome the hurdles that can sometimes hinder your progress. To blue skies...... James
