Welcome to AviatorHub. An online community that helps to bring together those interested in aviation and enables those with a passion for the Aviation industry to share stories, ideas, information, news, tips and soooo much more.
Combined with AviatorHub we have Aviatorjob, which helps companies find skilled people within our industry and will be sharing tips and advice to help you find what you want.
For now, to kick start things off, I wish to share a bit about myself and invite you to share your story as everyone is different. I look forward to connecting with you all and welcoming you to the community.
Born in Brazil, to Scottish parents, I always had a passion for aviation. I dreamed of becoming a pilot one day and wanted to join the Royal Air Force after school. However, my careers advisor had other ideas and deemed that I would not be suitable or capable to become one.
After having to change my "life plan" I went to university to study business management. Safe to say that it wasn't what I really wanted to do but back then getting a degree was almost a necessity and dare I say it expected.
Having graduated, I had a number of jobs, none of which I truly enjoyed and had it not been for one fortunate day whilst working for a world leading car rental company that I met a man who owned a flying school. He, opened my eyes to the opportunities and reignited my desire and passion to become a pilot again. BUT...... it was going to be a long, hard road.
After 3 years (including having to take a year off due to having to care for my brother that was nearly killed in an accident) I qualified and never looked back. Since then, I have worked in Oil and Gas with Bristow in the North Sea flying out of Aberdeen and Shetland, been made redundant, retained and become a hoisting pilot in Germany to offshore wind farms before moving back to the UK to continue in this field before hanging up my offshore survival suit to learn the ropes in HEMS where I currently fly for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. Something that I always wished to do but had my reservations about due to the nature of the work. That said, I love the job helping save lives and working with some of the most amazing people.
In my spare time and when on shift waiting for the "Bat phone" to ring I support companies find people in our industry and try help as many people as I can. I do not take life too seriously as it is important to have fun on this journey. If I am not doing that, I am spending time with my family enjoying the little things in life, the important and fun things. Doing HEMS, you very quickly realise how precious life is and how important it is to spend quality time with those you love and that there is no greater pleasure in helping others in what can be an ugly and difficult world.
I hope that this gives you some insight into me, AviatorHub and Aviatorjob and hope that I can provide you something positive and worthwhile moving forward. I look forward to hearing your stories and sharing the journey with you.
Many thanks and welcome again.
James
