This morning was a great moment in time for me.
We woke early, headed out for coffee, hats, gloves, coats in tow and drove to an area in which the monks would be walking today.
We stopped off at the grocery store for bananas. I get a call from hubs “don’t dilly dally - they are right across the street!” - apparently our timing was a few mins off.
Crate full of bananas, we headed to our intended spot but were blocked. No worries - we laughed and chalked it up to a mini adventure, popping onto 95 to get ahead of them and back on to route 1 to a less populated area.
We found the perfect place, cold, new meta glasses on, sun-shining but that wind was super cold! We met new friends and shared space with others. We spoke with the officers who were helping and their excitement and kindness was conveyed to us all as well. We were in it all as a collective. Excitement was in the air!
More people started coming in with signs and children and dogs and smiles and flowers.
We all paused as they walked closer. Crate of bananas out, I said thank you to each for their effort in this walk for peace. Just as quickly as they arrived, the moment passed.
As we walked back to the car, I got choked up and smiled - all in total joy of this experience, of this movement, of the kindness and compassion within each of us that we can share with each other. It’s not always easy but it’s always within, always there for us to embrace.
This walk is not an easy walk. The body, the mind and the soul - day in and out - an adventure, a journey, a push, a physical demand, a movement for a bigger perspective, a spiritual journey.
Have you been tracking the journey? What are your thoughts on their efforts, their goal, their words each evening?
