8th Grade Signing Day. Something I started last year. School Media guy comes and takes pictures. I give them a t shirt and the certificate that we both sign. Something fun and I post all the pictures on Social Media.

Our OL coach at ULM, JB Grimes, used to say at least twice a day: “I’m not going to piss on your leg and tell you're sweating.” We didn’t fully understand it at the time…But we knew it meant business. 😆 👇 Drop yours below—Best coach phrases you’ve heard (or STILL say today) Let’s build the ultimate list. A few days ago I asked what you want from this community: 1. Spring ball practice ideas 2. Culture / team building 3. Leadership & captains 4. Offense 5. Player accountability 6. Weekly messaging 👉 Today hits #2 and #5 immediately. They need to fix what’s already happening. 🧠 The Tool (Send This Today) Send your team a Google Form with 3 questions: START – What do we need more of? STOP – What’s hurting our team? CONTINUE – What must we keep doing? ⚡ Why this works - Players are more honest (no peer pressure) - You hear from everyone - You get real data 🚘 No one washes a rental car. Players don’t invest in what they don’t own. But when they have a voice… - They protect it - They care about it - They hold each other accountable 🎯 Now do this (don’t skip it) - Review the responses - Look for patterns (what shows up the most) - Pull out your top 2–3 “STOP” and “START” items - Bring it to the team and talk about it Don’t lecture. Don’t spin it. Let them see it. Let them own it. 🏈 Run this every 3–4 months.Your team will start to expect it—and value it. *Also send it to your assistant coaches. You’ll get honest feedback on your staff, structure, and communication—not just your players.
