Hey everyone,
I just ran into an issue trying to rebuild my custom models (after having already deleted them like an idiot), I assumed I could just re-upload the songs but ran into errors, contacted SUNO support, and this is what they had to say:
Thanks so much for reaching out, and for sharing the context around your songs.
What you're running into is actually Suno's copyright-detection system doing exactly what it's designed to do.
When you try to use a song that's been published and distributed to streaming platforms as a source for a new generation or custom model, Suno's checks compare the audio against a large catalog of music already out on the public internet.
Since your songs are distributed, their fingerprints are in that catalog — so the system flags them, even though you're the one who made them in the first place.
That might feel frustrating, but there's a silver lining: that same block is what protects your music from other people trying to use it without your permission. The detector doesn't know who you are — it just sees a match against released material and steps in.
Unfortunately, there is no way to manually clear these flags today, and we are not able to whitelist specific tracks on a per-ticket basis. What we are actively building is an artist verification system that will allow creators to make derivatives from their own catalog once they've verified ownership. We don't have a timeline to share yet, but it is in active development.
In the meantime, the best path forward is to work with other music (new generations, fresh source material) until that verification system is live and you can bring your own catalog back in.
As for your question about whether custom models are going away — the short answer is no, your existing work and any songs you've already created are not going anywhere. As Suno launches new models, older models will be retired for new generations, but everything already in your library stays fully playable and shareable. If you want to extend, remix, or cover an older song, those operations will run on the newer models, which may sound a little different from the original — but your catalog stays intact.
Hope that clears things up!
So my lesson learned here is DON'T DELETE YOUR CUSTOM MODELS if you published anything using them!
