Or why wordcrafter evolves so quickly.....
Basically it's because I get a new idea, someone here or in the WordCrafter Help System asks for or about something or the best reason....another tool pisses me off.
Why do we use Bring your own keys here instead of using credits? Wouldn't it be easier for folks to start out? Yes, but. I love that answer. Yes it would be easier and that's why my bookweaver automated writing app uses credits, but to keep it cheap it uses lesser models to write with, but I also give the user the choice of a good or a premium model...guess what the difference is? One costs more and writes better.
I watch my competition fairly closely to make sure the tools you use here and that I create are the best possible. Today one of them announced a new "feature". Copying your books and deciding what goes into the new one to test a different story line or ending. It's an automation like bookcrafter or bookweaver. My wife loves to hear me rant when I see one of these updates from the folks I'm watching "they're doing it wrong." I say this because I do it wrong as I build and iterate to see what works and what doesn't and why. My entire background supports what I do here
Why did that bother me so much? Because with the binder and copy and move we've had that ability since day one. He's not doing it to benefit users. He's in the cycle of most who use a credit based system and lower cost models. He need people to keep buying extra credits. Selling for a one time fee is a way to cut your throat. There's a lot of time and effort in development and this costs money. Every use of the tool costs money. The back end infrastructure costs money every month whether people use it or not. If 100 people by $69 one time for access and use it every month at month 2 or 3 he's losing money every month there on unless he builds tools to use to cause folks to buy more credits or get new users. The ROI on the business model doesn't work long term if growth doesn't also continue. So adding things that are not necessary that should be free to get you to spend more money just irks me. I keep adding tools and am trying to do it at a budget able cost. One of those ways is updating the skills to use tokens more efficiently because I'm writing with wordcrafter.pro tools as well an API keys cost me too.
$25 for a proprietary rating for your book that you can only rate against another book using the same system? Cool. Ours does this and rates against two standard read level systems and pulls out possible triggering issues and tells you where the issues are.
$99 for a "Kindle Publishing Package"? Cool. I gave the skill away in skool at the pro level or level 5 maybe for free (I'll have to verify this). Ours also pulls out more fun stuff and gives you exactly what you need to pop into KDP to publish.
$199 for a tool to pull marketing data. $150 for a monthly trends report, $69 for a comp authors report. $69 for a beta read that's automated. It goes on...So far I've built in almost $4000 a year in tools you would pay for for similar tools and subscriptions. Currently if you get in before Oct1 it's $200 a year, and will stay at that rate forever. After Oct 1 it will be $650 for everything. I'll keep to these prices for at least 2 years. There will probably be some special sales in there as well.
As of today there are ten new tools planned. I had not planned on the three that came of the last week. They're extras because I didn't want to pay $190 dollars for a tool I could write.
So today evolution happened quietly on Joe B Hall Street in Cynthianna, Ky.
Skills that became a windows app. A windows App became a web app. A web app became a System and today the whole ecosystem is coming together to help you get your books written, sold, makes some money, and gain a following.
Let's do this together folks. I want to read what you write and help you be successful. That's why I keep doing what I do.
