I take this for granted but I'm sure there are a lot of people here who have never used Value Stream Mapping. I've used this technique with clients during discovery to capture their whole process end to end. This helps us identify where the bottlenecks are and where they can get the most value from automation.
If you automate a process and the business don't see any improvements then you've probably automated the wrong thing, or moved the bottleneck to some other point in the process. If you want to have a positive impact on your clients you have to automate the right thing, not just what they tell you!
