Anthropic suspends Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US government directive
On June 12, 2026, Anthropic announced it must disable access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models for all customers. The US government, citing national security authorities, issued an export control directive to suspend all access to these two models by any foreign national. Access to all other Anthropic models is not affected.
Anthropic says it's complying but disagrees with the order, believes it's a misunderstanding, and is working to restore access soon.
