Good morning, bookworms! I finished reading a book this morning, and wanted to quickly gush. Have any of you read "Awake" by Jen Hatmaker? I have known of Jen Hatmaker for years because of Glennon Doyle. There is the beautiful community of women-who-write that Glennon and Jen are both in, with Brené Brown, Elizabeth Gilbert, and Cheryl Strayed, among others, that I have been following for a time. This book by Jen Hatmaker was different for me, a memoir. I typically read in the realm of escapism. I try my hardest to enter into other worlds to escape my own, but for some reason I felt the need to read this new book by Hatmaker- and boy am I glad that I did.
While there is no real, understandable, and obvious connection that I could make to this book about her divorce, I felt so connected to her story. Her journey of reentering her body and reevaluating everything she has always known was something so beautiful for me. I definitely suggest reading it. She has a way of making you laugh, and also, putting into words things that I have always felt alone in.
Also, she reads the audiobook, and includes voice memos and recordings from her podcasts and friends when she references them- so cool!
