Obviously, we’ve all heard about the semen retention benefits. It’s probably one of the most talked about parts of this practice. There are countless testimonials, timelines, and expectations of what’s supposed to happen on day X, Y, and Z.
But I want to explain it in a different way.
The practice of SR is like filling up your energy “gas tank.”
There are other things that can fill up your gas tank too. Good sleep, good food, discipline, purpose. But SR is one of the most potent ones.
And at the same time, by doing SR, you’re also not doing one of the main things that drains it.
So now you’ve got a full tank.
And with a full tank, you can take yourself a lot of places.
But you still have to drive there.
And this is where I see a lot of people get stuck.
They become hyper-focused on the retention part. Retain, retain, retain… thinking that retention alone is what gives them the benefits.
And yeah, maybe you’ll feel some changes just from that.
But the real benefits? They come from what you DO with that energy.
If you just sit there with a full tank and never move, nothing changes.
But if you actually channel that energy into something, that’s when things start happening.
Physically
You start training harder. You recover better. You actually feel like moving your body instead of being sluggish.
You go from “I should go to the gym” to “I NEED to move.”
Your posture improves, your presence changes, your body starts reflecting the energy you’re holding.
Intellectually
You can sit down and actually focus. Read. Study. Think deeper.
Instead of running to dopamine, you can stay with one thing and push through resistance.
Creatively
You get ideas. And more importantly, you ACT on them.
You stop consuming all the time and start creating. Writing, building, filming, whatever it is.
That restless energy needs an outlet, and creativity becomes one of the cleanest ones.
Professionally
You stop procrastinating as much.
You take action on things you’ve been delaying. Messages, calls, work, building something.
You become more driven, more decisive, more willing to step into uncomfortable situations.
Relationally
You become more present with people.
Less in your head, less distracted, more grounded.
You speak more directly. You feel more confident in social situations.
There’s a different kind of energy in how you carry yourself.
Spiritually
You feel more connected. More aware.
Less numbed out, less distracted by constant stimulation.
You start questioning things deeper. Reflecting more. Actually sitting with yourself instead of escaping.
That’s when SR actually becomes powerful.
Not because you’re just “holding it in”… but because you’re redirecting it.
Full tank means nothing if you don’t drive.
And most people are just sitting there… engine running… going nowhere.
Now also for the people who don't experience benefits
There are one of two possible outcomes
- They are simply not channeling their energy.
- they are leaking their energy through negative behaviors such as:
- doom scrolling
- junk food
- procrastination
- alternative sexual content (Insta tots, etc)
- etc
they are either not using up the gas in their gas tank, or they are just making holes at the bottom of the tank. So it doesn't really matter if they fill up the gas tank if it's all leaking out the other end either way
