Using AI images for album artwork and youtube
Hi everyone I have recently heard that a video game that used an AI cover and won game of the year has had the award stripped from them due to the use of AI art for a game cover. Do you think that moving forward we will need to find alternate artwork for Album covers and youtube videos to be safe? Or is it ok to still use AI?

@Jim Offerman great points Jim.
Another tool to track your project time.
I also work with a tool that tracks the time I spend working on a project. It´s free, but there´s also a luxurious version available. It is a VST plugin that automatically starts and stops when the project is opened and closed in CB. This way, you can see at the end how much time you actually spent working on the project. Of course, it can also be paused when taking a break. The tool is free and developed by HOFA. Here is the link: 4U Project Time: scroll in the middle.... https://hofa-plugins.de/en/freeware-en/ Payware: https://hofa-plugins.de/en/shop/freeware-en/4u-projecttime/

That's pretty legit!
Trailer cuts?
So I was talking to good ol ChatGPT earlier tonight and had asked it about strategies for contacting publishers. It mentioned using cut versions of my music and that got me thinking as I don’t think I’ve heard of doing that before. Part of its reasoning was my track are too long (2:30-3:00, doesn’t seem too long to me 😂) and people make their decisions within the first 10-15 seconds. I know that’s true. I recognize it’s a bot so I’m skeptical to put all my eggs in that basket. So naturally I came here to see what people think about sending different versions in a demo reel. Would love to hear any feedback in this area as I’m still working to get my first placement!

I don't have a ton of sync experience to draw on, but my casual opinion is that if you can give curators the absolute best 15 seconds of 4 of your songs, that minute alone might convince them to listen through the full versions, whereas providing them with full 2 to 3 minute versions will feel a little more like they have to wade through the tracks to find the best parts. Thoughts?
Mix Feedback
Hi folks. I am looking for balance/mixing guidance on this track. It is a video game loop depicting flight, majesty, and grandeur. Once I get this mixing thing figured out, I can begin working on mixing my demo reel. Thanks in advance for everything-this community is amazing!!

Wow, really nice track @Sean Fitzsimmons , feels like it fits the snowy weather where i'm at. I think it sounds great for the most part, but the what I'd be concerned about are the moments it starts clipping at :20 and :30. The easiest fix for this is to just turn every channel in your DAW down by the same amount (probably recommend 3 dB). You could go with limiting and compressing as well, on the master or on individual tracks, but that's a much more nuanced discussion. One other thing (that could be related, might be contributing to the clipping) is that I feel there is a lot of low end/mids bulkiness going on (those are the frequencies that are going to cause clipping the fastest), so pulling a little of that out of the low strings and brass could help out too. Thanks for sharing, best of luck with mixing this and the rest of your demo reel!
Your portfolio in Spotify?
If I upload my original portfolio compositions to platforms like Spotify, could that create any issues later if a director, production company or client wants to license that exact piece for a project (film, game, trailer, advertising, etc.)? I’m mainly wondering: - Whether having the music already released affects exclusivity or future licensing possibilities. - If it could complicate copyright ownership, control of the work, or long-term royalties. - Whether, from a strategic point of view, it’s better to keep portfolio compositions unpublished in order to sell or license them directly to clients. From your experience, what approach works best: building a public catalog on streaming platforms, or keeping music unreleased for direct licensing opportunities? Thanks in advance for your insights.
