Are you still drawing jewelry design sketches that lack a sense of dimension?
Do your jewelry design drawings look like the attached image? They appear flat, with no volume or three-dimensional form? Do jewelers or other jewelry professionals often have trouble understanding your designs? And when you try to communicate with professionals, does it feel awkward, like you can’t fully express your ideas? What you’re missing is a “sense of dimension” and “how to render metal with three-dimensionality.” If you want to create jewelry design drawings that truly convey depth and volume, click on the “Introduction to Metal Rendering” course in Classroom now! It provides a concise and clear introduction, with side-by-side comparisons of design sketches and actual jewelry. I’ll also be updating with real drawing tutorial videos soon!

The Pink Romance of the 18th Century — Rococo Style
You may not be familiar with the term “Rococo style,” but you have definitely seen this kind of jewelry before. Lots of flowing curves, soft ribbon shapes, bows, flowers, jewelry that looks romantic, delicate, and elegant. All of these come from 18th-century Rococo aesthetics. If we had to describe Rococo in one sentence, it would be:“romantic, pink, and full of feminine charm.” 👉 Historical Background of the Rococo Period The Rococo style emerged in the early to mid-18th century, mainly during the reign of Louis XV in France, and quickly spread across Europe. This was a time when aristocratic life shifted from royal authority to private salons: - Social gatherings, balls, and afternoon tea became part of daily life - Women gained stronger influence in art and fashion - Aesthetics moved away from strict symmetry and order, toward nature, curves, and emotion As a result, jewelry was no longer just a symbol of power it became a way to please others and express personal charm and taste. 👉 Key Characteristics of Rococo Jewelry The most distinctive feature:breaking away from perfect symmetry - S-shaped and C-shaped curves - Asymmetrical or loosely mirrored compositions - Designs that look effortless, yet are carefully balanced - A sense of natural movement, ribbons, flowers, and foliage - Frequent use of colored gemstones, rose-cut diamonds, and pearls - Lighter and more delicate structures compared to the Baroque period

Now you can draw three different gemstones.
歡迎你在下方展示你的練習!💯 We’ve now uploaded three different gemstone cutting drawings: Round, Oval, and Marquise. The round shape is the most basic one. The oval shape is very common in colored gemstones. For the marquise shape, I shared a method that you can use even if you don’t have a marquise template. So it’s totally okay if you don’t have one. Now you’ve learned three faceting line drawing methods. You’re doing great! 🌟 Feel free to share your practice below —I’d love to see your work! 💯
