Why do you want to learn jewelry design?
一句話就好,歡迎在下方與我分享😁我會更知道我要怎麼幫助大家學習 “Why do you want to learn jewelry design?”That’s a question I want to ask everyone — and also a question I’ve been asked many times myself. Can you guess why I started learning jewelry design? To design my own jewelry? To create beautiful things? 😆 Nope.My reason wasn’t glamorous or romantic at all. It was actually very practical. I graduated from a Japanese major in 2016, and the salary was too low. One day, my dad — who’s a metalworker/jeweler — saw that none of the jobs I found were that great, and asked me, “Do you want to learn jewelry design?” I thought, well… I do kind of like drawing, even though it was just a hobby. So I signed up for GIA jewelry design classes. That’s it. 😝 I honestly thought I’d probably quit after a year or two. But somehow, it’s been 9 years now.I went from designing jewelry for other people to teaching other people how to design. 😘 A lot of things start like this. Not because of some amazing reason — just because at a certain moment, a door was open, and you walked through it. So, what made you want to learn jewelry design? Just one sentence is enough 😊 Feel free to share in the comments — it’ll help me understand how I can support everyone better in learning.

The diamond drawing tutorial you’ve been asking for is finally here 💎
😃 When I was studying at GIA, I realized something— Almost everyone makes the same mistake when drawing diamonds. Can you guess what it is? It’s not the facet lines. It’s the placement of the light and shadows! 🥲 I was the same way. Before entering GIA, I didn’t know how to draw gemstones that looked dimensional and brilliant. I completely understand that feeling of finishing a drawing and thinking, “Something feels off…”It looks like it should sparkle, but somehow still feels flat and lifeless and you can’t figure out why. Later, I realized that strange feeling wasn’t about talent at all. It was because the placement of the light and shadows was wrong. Once the lighting is correct, the exact same diamond instantly looks completely different. A few days ago, many of you asked for a diamond drawing tutorial, so I included this most important concept in the lesson. It’s only 9 minutes long, and you can watch it right now. After you finish drawing, come back and tell me how it felt or share your artwork with me. I’d love to see what you create. 😃

Have you ever thought this about yourself?
讓我更知道我可以如何幫助你學習😃 Yesterday, someone left a comment on my instagram saying: "I have no artistic talent, so I can only draw standard measurement sketches." I want to ask everyone — did you ever think that about yourself before you started learning? My honest answer: yes. When I first started, I thought jewelry design was something only people who were "good at drawing" could do. Back in GIA, I sat next to someone who had a formal art background. I kept thinking — they're better than me, they have more talent, I don't know anything. 🥲 I couldn't even hold a watercolor brush steady. 🥲🥲🥲 But then I realized jewelry sketching is actually really different from regular art. Even as a complete beginner, if you follow the steps, you can create a beautiful, complete sketch. There's a clear learning path — follow it step by step, and you'll build skills without getting lost. Once you learn how to render gemstones and metal, you add in jewelry construction knowledge. That's when your proportions get accurate and your drawings make sense technically. And once all of that clicks? That's when personal style and creativity start to come in — and that's where real design begins. Talent was never the problem. Nobody just showed you the method. 😆 What about you? What made you want to start learning jewelry sketching? Drop a comment and let me know — it helps me understand how I can support you better! 😃
