👣 Shoes, Socks, or Barefoot?
Fun question for everyone 😄 If you had the choice, what would you rather train in? • Shoes • Socks • Barefoot For me: • Parkour = shoes, because concrete is not forgiving 😅 • Gymnastics gym = barefoot • Regular gym = I would actually prefer barefoot, but since most places do not allow it, socks are usually next best I have actually never tried barefoot shoes, so now I’m curious about that too 👀 👇 What about you? What do you prefer training in… and does it change depending on what you are doing?

frequent yoga sessions have me used to exercising barefoot. and i feel nice and grounded when i squat or deadlift barefoot or in socks. running is the exception though. i don't get how those barefoot runners do it. Barefoot shoes are so uncomfortable and running actually barefoot sounds like a great way to get injured or some weird disease
🌪️ “Lack Of Progress” Might Not Be The Real Problem
A lot of people say they lose motivation because of a lack of progress. Sometimes that is true. But a lot of times, it is not that you are not progressing. It is that: • you do not see the progress • the progress is slower than you hoped • the progress is no longer exciting • the dopamine from something new is gone And that changes how you feel about the whole process. 🧠 First, let’s be honest A lot of skills take a long time. Not days. Not a couple of weeks. Sometimes months. Sometimes years. That does not mean it is not working. That means it is a real skill. If you really want it, you cannot only want it when it feels exciting. You have to want it when it feels ordinary too. 🌬️ For some people, the real issue is not motivation It is more of a personality and attention style thing. We have talked before about the different motivation types. A lot of times, this sounds like more of a wind type problem. That means: • new things feel exciting • fast progress feels amazing • little wins give a big dopamine hit • repetition gets boring quickly • the moment the excitement drops, so does the energy That does not mean you are lazy. It means your brain really likes novelty and visible progress. So if you do not understand that, you might keep quitting things that were actually working. 📹 1. Track your progress better A lot of people are progressing. They just are not measuring it. So then their brain says: “Nothing is changing.” Even though things are changing. That is why it helps to track things like: • reps • hold times • video clips • cleaner form • more confidence • less fear • more control • better positions Film your work. Write things down. Look back. Because if you compare today to yesterday, maybe it feels the same. But if you compare today to 2 months ago, there is often a huge difference. 🔍 2. If there is truly no progress, fix the problem This part matters. If your reps are not going up… If your hold is not increasing…

Progress can definitely come in waves too. I felt for the longest time I was just kicking up to handstand and falling back the way i came at the same rate as basically when i moved away from the wall. Then just this last week all of the sudden i'm successfully kicking up to handstand 50% of the time (holding it is another matter haha). So successfull kickup rate didn't look like: 15% -> 20% -> 25% -> 30% -> 35% -> 40% -> 45% -> 50% it looked like: 15% -> 15% -> 15% -> 15% -> 15% -> 50%
3 pushups in a row!
Hey cali fam, I’m on a mission to get 10 full pushups this month! I can do 1 with good form. I’ve done a max of 5 with questionable form cos after filming these 3, I noticed that my back dips down. This was my last set so mayyybe my form was better in earlier sets but I’ll keep filming to tighten my form :) What prompts can I think to make my back stay straight and get that mind-body connection going?

📱 Want All The Skill Progressions In One Place?
That is exactly why the Skill Tree App exists. If you upgrade to Premium for only $9 a month, you unlock: • the Skill Tree App • the Fitness App • access to a bunch of the training programs • an easy way to track your workouts and progress 🌳 Why the Skill Tree App is so cool The Skill Tree App helps you: • save your progress • see where you are in your journey • understand what comes next • discover skills you did not even know were possible • click through examples and progressions to help you reach them So instead of trying to remember everything in your head or searching all over the place, you can have the majority of the skill progressions all in one place. That is the big goal. To make it easier, clearer, and way more fun to see your path. 💪 The Fitness App is also a huge bonus When you unlock Premium, you also get access to the Fitness App. That means: • training programs ready to go • a really useful tracker • lots of the calisthenics exercises we talk about here • an easier way to stay organized and consistent 🔥 Important note Right now, if you unlock Premium and get access to the Skill Tree App, you can keep using it even if you only paid for one month. That will not stay like that forever. The only reason it is not free is because it costs me money out of pocket. So if too many people are using it, it can get too expensive for me to keep it open that way. That is just the reality of tools that have ongoing costs. 🙌 What will always stay free The information in this community will always be free. So if you have questions, want help, or want to understand skills and progressions, that will always be shared here. But tools that cost money to run unfortunately cannot always work the same way. 🚀 Coming soon Also, this week there should be an update to add the handstand progressions into the Skill Tree App, which I am really excited about. That is going to make it even better. 👇 If you want access If you want: • all the skill progressions in one place
