After watching a couple of videos I think I don't know anything about knitting 😔 and after over 60 years of knitting I'm now a beginner again

I'm also in the same boat but luckily I found Top Down in the Round and Two At A Time Toe Up Sock knitting about 15 years ago and have been doing the garment construction this way ever since. But I'd never attempted Short Rows and Last year for Socktober I put aside the whole month to concentrate on being better at colour work. Doing socks to practice was great and I made about 4-5 different Zanete patterns. I haven't looked back. I'm loving learning all the new techniques and I've just started watching Knitting Podcasts. 👩🏼‍🎓😜 Have fun Heather 😊
Brooklyn Memories
Soooo....the weather got very warm and made working with the fuzzy yarn for my Lightfall less comfortable, so I started the Brooklyn Memories socks and that's been my go-to for the past 9 days. I had a lot of fun with this pattern, and was able to use up some of my stash yarn. I must say that I very much enjoy this particular toe-up construction with the bottom gusset and heel flap - the fit is quite comfortable and kept my interest throughout. Would knit again. https://www.ravelry.com/projects/LoveyMakesBread/brooklyn-memories-socks

I agree with you about the construction method and it would be particularly great when doing stripes if you can't be bother to do the whole "Jogless" rigmarole 🤦🏻‍♀️ because the join is under your foot. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 I often look at other sock patterns and try to figure out how to make them with this method. 😮‍💨😵‍💫

Bust Darts
Hello all! Have any of you tried adding bust darts to your knits? If so, do you have any tips or tricks on adding them to patterns you’re following? I hear about bust darts and how they can help tailor your knits, especially knitting in the round. Thank you!

@Shuna Marr I thought that too but I have been keeping my eye open and some designers add them after a colour work round yolk once you get to the stockinette stitching. I think Sari Nordlund may do one. I haven't tried it yet..... after all this colour work we've all been doing I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to make a totally plain garment. 😩😊

@Margaret Corrigan I have made a couple of Jumpers now, after following Zanetes advice about using the Upper Bust measurement, and I try them on constantly. When I get to the "Separation for Sleeves" part I often add more stitches and I works beautifully to give me extra room at my bust.
Time for a sock knit!
A few years ago I decided to take a class at the fiber festival each year to give me something totally fun to look forward to. This year I did a class on stranded colorwork that was more of a discussion group on the technique. It was awesome. The instructor showed us her recent purchase which was a set of interchangeable needles that went down to a US size 00. Until then I'd only seen them down to a US size 4. So I put a set in my Amazon wish list and informed my husband that I 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 wanted them for my birthday. I might have implied that bad things would happen to the entire family if I didn't get them. I also put a couple of other knitting notions in my wish list, but the needle set was the big one. The little colored balls are rubbery point protectors. The set is from ChiaGoo and is their mini lace set that includes 4" tips in sizes 000, 00, 0, 1, and 1.5. It's called the mini set since their cables come in 3 sizes, mini, small, and large. They also have adaptors so that you can use the tips with the small join with their mini cables. I also quietly ordered a few other sizes (2, 2.5, and 3) to round out my tiny interchangeable needles as well as a couple of the cables with the small joins. Now I just have to decide on a pattern.

@Jennifer Jett I have made the Ruhbarb and Custard socks 3 times now, it's a truely great pattern to cut your colour work teeth on. I've made quite a few more of Zanetes socks, they are all such great patterns. Good Luck 😊

Refracta Sweater
I have finally finished and we're heading into Winter. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I was nearly finished this before we started the Ruju Cardigan but when I tried it on it was too big and the plain garter stitch was too stretchy due to the weight of the cotton combined with Garter stitch. I also had used 3 different contrast colours but they didn't show up as well as this light blue I finally settled on. I used 100% Cotton from my stash, and had to do a bit of tweeking with Needle size. But I'm proud to say I did a descent size Swatch Guage that I actually wet blocked. I'm so proud of myself.💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 I altered the end of the pattern as I thought the straight look of the original design would enhance the size of my bust and I'd rather not do that. I'm really really happy with the result, it could be a bit longer at the hem but I'm pretty sure after wearing it a few times the weight of it will stretch it.

Been knitting for over 50 years and still feel like I need to learn so much more. But learning new techniques is what keeps me interested.
