Here's One Simple Idea That Will Transform Your Marketing
Here it is. Write to one person! Not your audience. Not your niche. Not your ideal client demographic. One specific person, as if they are sitting right across the table from you. Because here is the reality. Every email you send is read by one person, alone. Every video you record is watched by one person, alone. Every sales page, every LinkedIn post, every piece of content you produce lands in front of one person at a time. So the moment you write "some of you will know this" or "many of you will have experienced this," you instantly break the connection. The reader feels it, even if they cannot name it. They go from feeling spoken to, to feeling broadcast at. And broadcast content gets a broadcast response. Which is usually no response at all. Here is what to do instead. Before you write a single word, picture one specific person. Someone you know, or someone who perfectly represents the client you most want to help. Give them a name in your mind. Think about where they are sitting when they read your message. What are they worried about today? What do they need to hear? Then write directly to them. Change "some of you" to "you." Change "many of you will know" to "you probably already know." Change "those of you who are consultants" to "as a consultant, you..." Small shifts. Enormous difference. Resistance is created through a lack of clarity. The clearer and more direct your message, the more likely it is to land, to connect, and to convert. Try it with your next email or post. Write it to one person. Then tell me what changed.
