🌤️ Off-Topic Weekend Check-In 🎉
Alright, let’s take a break from talking about scales, strumming, and sore fingertips… 😅 Besides guitar, what do you all enjoy doing on the weekends? Whether it’s: Grilling something tasty 🍔 Going fishing 🎣 Getting lost in a good book 📚 Chasing kids around the house 🏃‍♂️ Or just catching up on some well-earned rest 😴 Drop it in the comments — always fun to see what this group is up to when we aren’t glued to a fretboard. 😂 -Jake G.

Apparently, I love cutting grass this time of year 🤣 but I would rather be bass or sac-a-lait fishing. If you don’t live in south Louisiana you would call sac-a-lait white perch. Fried in the worst oil “vegetable” with hush puppies and French fries. Guaranteed to clog an artery !😂
Timing Feeling Sloppy?
Try This Tiny Fix If you’ve been practicing without a metronome, you’re basically driving without a speedometer. You might be on time... But most likely you're probably a little fast or right behind where you want to be. Let's fix it 💪 Here's the plan: - Dedicate 5 minutes a day to playing with a metronome. - Pick one thing, strumming, picking, chord changes, and set your metronome. - Start slow. Slower than you think. The goal isn’t to rush through it, it’s to feel the beat and stay glued to it. Do this daily and your timing will clean up faster than you can say “why am I always a beat off" Small habit. Big results. P.S. What your favorite app to use for metronome and tuning, let's share the knowledge.

I use a seiko metronome the kids gave me and sometimes I have to use the metrotimer app because the Seiko doesn’t keep all beats. It counts by 2, 4, 5, 6. Besides a clip on tuner I have a Zen-on quarts tuner from my decade growing up the 80’s!
A Skill You're Probably Ignoring?
Why Counting Out Loud Helps You Play Guitar Better When you learn something new on guitar it can feel tricky Your hands feel slow You might miss a beat You may not know if you are doing it right Here is something that really helps Count out loud Say the beats as you play Like this 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and It might feel weird or hard at first You may lose your place That is okay Counting out loud helps your brain lead the way It makes your right hand follow the beat Over time your hand will know what to do without thinking It will feel easy and smooth If you skip this step you may get stuck But if you practice counting out loud You will get better faster So next time you play something new Try counting out loud Even if it feels strange You are teaching your brain and hands to work together You've got this, Jake G.

Jake’s Yakes asked me this question just yesterday and I thought my counting was good then I realized I’ve been counting to myself and not counting the ghost strums until I turn the metronome on and then I count all the strums out loud and that’s when I find myself wanting to strum the ghost strums 😩. Thanks Jake Y for pointing out my difficulties before I knew I had difficulties! 😂
Off Topic Where is everyone From!!!
We have been growing so much in this community and I am so excited about it. I've always said that the only real shortcut is playing with others, especially those a little more advanced. With that being said... Drop your current location. Who knows, you might be right next-door to someone who loves guitar as much as you do. Keep strumming, Jake G.

Been dabbling in guitar for a few years. My dad played some and tried to teach me when I was young, but wasn’t interested. It’s all I want to do now
