@Jamie Fontaine-Ellis no worries man my condolences to you. I know that feeling all too well keep ya head up man and Take your time man no rush on this. And yea I’ve been liking the logic workflow I really like Mpc as well I do a lot of my drums on the Mpc than drag the audio into my daw to further mix or arrange.

@Tim Jeffcoat I’m right there with you, and dude Mac mini is the way to go best bang for your buck. Let me know if you run into any issues using opus. So far the only one I’ve ran into is with fl studio. It runs perfect in stand alone as well as logic. Only other problem I’ve had is having to redownload some of the libraries because they would be missing content. Don’t know if you have experience that but it can be rather annoying. I’ll be looking out for some new work from you man keep it up 💯
😅I need your help. 😅
I'm working on my own music alongside you. We're doing this together. I just thought I'd remind everyone that's the case lol... and practice what I preach! So here I am asking for feedback. https://s.disco.ac/qnkhejohjcyw PHANTOM: This is a song that at this point is over 10 years old that I wrote with a guy named Vlad Holiday. It was my first proper co-writing session when I moved to New York and original, which is the first song in the playlist, never landed anywhere, and my skills since then have dramatically improved. The second version I started during covid that's a string remake of the original (still planning to get vocals on it)... but I've never found the right male vocalist to get on it. I'm considering singing it myself, although I'd need atleast a week of warm-ups and concentrated practice to get my singing chops up to snuff for this. Do I tackle it myself? Do I try to find another vocalist? Do I do both versions, the string version and an updated version of the more electronic downtempo vibe? The OG vibe worked great for 2010 but needs to be updated for 2026. Originally, the reference was Mickey Echo, if you all remember him (writer of Stay by Rihanna). Who's the reference for this now? This is one of the songs that I'm digging out of the crates and working on refinishing. Would it be helpful for me to break down my process as I work on finishing this in a video that I would share with you all? Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate you all. So grateful for the community that's building and growing here.

@Glenn Macrae lol this is tough, having to give the teacher feedback 😮‍💨 ima lose my spot in the group (jk) 🤣. Honestly the track itself is phenomenal every element has its own pocket. You have highs, lows the dynamics are there. I noticed when the verse starts to pick back up the snare sounded a little softer than normal, was that intentional? I know the drums shift a lot after the hook leads into the verse. It just sounded a little weird when it didn’t pick back up. Guess I was anticipating it more than I should’ve. Other than that I feel like the vocal has a bit too much reverb mainly the tail kinda bleeds too much, I know you said this isn’t mixed but this is part of the process. I feel like you might have left a few things off on purpose to test us 😑 to see if we are paying attention lol. This is solid work though Glenn very different from other work you have shown me. And I really like it the vibe is there and I can hear this in many different applications. Tv show, commercial, movie it really hits home on all levels. Hope this helps 💯

Latin style beat
What’s going on everyone, it’s been a while since I posted anything and I wanted to share something interesting with you all. This is a lot different than what I was previously making. However I love it, I had a conversation a while back that helped me change my view on sync. What I came to realize is I didn’t necessarily need to change who I am and what I create. So today I’m presenting a Latin style beat that I produced. If you all would be so kind to leave me some honest feedback. My biggest question for you all is do you believe it is sync ready? Why or why not? I made this a little different than a traditional beat it doesn’t have a normal song structure on purpose. I still plan to work on some cinematic projects but for now I want to focus on what I can get done now. So I can build my catalog. Hope you enjoy. Key questions: does it fit the style of music I was trying to convey. Still a little new to this genre and I feel like it may be missing a few elements. Based on your experience is this ready to pitch to a sync libary? How are the dynamics, does it need more “space” or spots with no noise? One of my biggest concerns with this is the flute melody is there anyway I could improve it, or does it fit? I was trying my best not to over complicate it. Finally, how does the mix sound? I have done some basic eq and very little effects it sounded good to me. However I would love to hear your thoughts on it. https://s.disco.ac/lyyeoxtjqmiw

@Jennifer Crowe thank you for the feedback Jenn means a lot. Honestly I’m trying to get to yours guys level of quality so all the compliments keep me focused. Thanks for the comment on the flute I still had mixed feelings but so far nobody has said anything bad about it. This is still a new genre for me, however I have practiced these kind of drum patterns a few times. I like to try new things it’s a gift and a curse but this style of production wasn’t too far off what I’m used too. Definitely a lot easier to make than a cinematic piece let me tell you 😅.

@Jennifer Crowe I really appreciate you Jen. And yes we as artist tend to be our biggest critics. That’s what I love about this community it gives us the chance to hear others opinions. What we may think isn’t good or ready may sound phenomenal to someone else.

@Glenn Macrae that’s perfect for me 💯
Introduction
Hi everyone…a lil about who I am….I hail from the Great State of Texas, Born and Raised. My music background started at an early age, 6th grade band and onward….I was signed a recording contract with a Label when I was 18, my first sour taste of the industry as an artist/ Producer, life happen, I joined the Marines….served in Both Conflicts During the Kuwait invasion and Enduring freedom, just returning home in 2021 with my family, and now concentrating more on making my first love a business… I do not really box myself in to a specific genre as I tend to write all types of music…but if I had to choose I would say soul music and not talking in terms of genre I am speaking terms of How my souls feels at that moment of creation. I am really digging this class learning a lot…though I may seem to be a bit forward, pay it no mind…That is just the Marine in me… I am harmless. Ask my wife. 😎 Great to be here guys… attached is my place of Zen…
