Writers, let’s talk about revision for a moment.
When you reach the editing stage, what part tends to slow you down the most? Is it cutting words you worked hard to write? Strengthening dialogue so it sounds natural? Fixing pacing that feels slightly off? Cleaning up grammar and sentence flow? Or restructuring sections that just are not landing the way you hoped? Revision can be one of the most rewarding stages, but it can also be the most frustrating. I have noticed that many writers struggle most with clarity and flow during self edits, especially when they are too close to the work. What part of revision feels the most overwhelming to you right now? And when you get stuck, do you push through it alone, step away for a while, or seek outside feedback? I would genuinely love to hear how you approach this stage of the writing process.

@Indy M That flexibility can be a gift, honestly because some days you need a light touch, and other days you’re in deep focus mode, so do you notice a difference in quality between the 20 minute sessions and the 8 hour ones, or does it balance out?

@Indy M That's sounds good.
When the Work Starts Paying Off
There’s something different about holding a book that’s actually working. This one has been getting results, and moments like this remind me why I treat publishing as a long term game. Authors how does it feel the first time you hold your own book?

@Danielle Marietta It really does 😄there’s something about holding the finished book that feels like unwrapping something you have worked toward for months, so do you still get that feeling with every release, or does it change over time?
Quick Question for Authors?
For those seeing sales: What made the biggest difference in your sales ? A) Cover? B) Blurb? C) Keywords? D) Ads? E) Publishing more books? For me, the real shift happened when I started treating each release as part of a long term catalog instead of a one time launch, I'm curious what moved the needle for you? And for those not seeing results yet: What do you think is holding your book back right now? Let’s make this practical. Real answers only.

@John Read That makes sense, those positioning conversations can really shape long term series performance, I have found thinking about read through early makes a big difference.

@John Read That’s such an interesting balance to navigate, so do you see yourself leaning more toward self publishing long term, or continuing primarily with traditional publishing?
Experience Check
For those who’ve been self-publishing for a while… What mistake cost you the most time or money when you started? I’d love to avoid it

@Yvette Way I’m really sorry that happened because too many writers get pulled in by promises and only later realize the author not the reader was the customer but the bright side is those copies aren’t wasted they can still work for signings, festivals, giveaways, and rebuilding on your own terms a tough lesson, but it makes you stronger going forward.
One Change That Made a Difference You?
Authors, I want to hear from you, what’s one thing you did after publishing that actually moved the needle for your book? For me, it was focusing on positioning and discoverability instead of just publishing and waiting once I made that shift, sales and visibility started improving. What about you? No win is too small sometimes tiny changes have the biggest impact!
