@Joe Sheryak love that might start incorporating into my weeks
What ELSE can carbon shoes do for you?
So I wanted to run a bit of an experiment on myself. I ran 6 miles 2 days in a row... just how my program and mileage came out. Heart rate is what I was looking at, and I was pretty surprised, honestly. Day one I used an older pair of NB 1080's. Still good and the foam is solid... just not super responsive... Although that's kind of the point with that shoe. Day two, I used a new pair of Hoka Skyward X's which are a super trainer from Hoka. Meaning they have a lot of foam (a mix of standard and race foam) as well as having a carbon plate. On day one I felt okay and got through the run with no problems. 6 miles easy with an average HR of 155, and what is crazy is Day two I did everything the same and my avg HR was down to 148. Now I want to be clear, there are still a TON of factors that go into this, but I thought it was an interesting observation. The other noteworthy thing was that I didn't really want to run on the second day... but with the 'better' shoe I ended up having a good bit of fun with it. The way gear makes you feel can be a big factor in how you preform! Just some food for thought. Have you ever used a carbon shoe?

@Joe Sheryak I have heard of Nike but vaporfly. Alpha might be latest one?
Ran a 30k today
Way ahead of my marathon plan I’m also thinking of bumping up to 4 runs per week instead of 3 The sub 3:20 is on I think.

@Joe Sheryak to cover more ks. More easy running. Better base. More chance of running faster on race day.

@Joe Sheryak this last week did 50k
Hat update
Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much of one. I’ve been speaking to different suppliers but no one has been able to do exactly what I’m hoping for. So like anything, there are ups and downs… and that’s okay, but we have to keep moving forward! I’m going to try and find some direct suppliers and see how we do going that way. What are you getting up to this weekend?

@Joe Sheryak maybe I should. See if there’s ones to sign up to. Maybe a could tester, like 6 weeks out from full ideally?

@Joe Sheryak when should peak mileage be. For me right now plan is 4 weeks out hmmm but yea I reckon a half marathon around that time willl be lovely. And yea a sub 134 maybe willl give me confidence I can run a sub 3:20. I dunno though this will be very very hard
How do you get your miles?
Hey everyone! As I’m going out to get my long run, a thought popped up. I normal like running 6 days per week.. a few easy runs, a long run, and 1-2 workouts. The past 2 weeks have been a grind for me, so I’ve done fewer, bigger runs. I’m not as big a fan but the flexibility it affords is actually quite nice. And so I’m curious, do you prefer more sessions with variation? Or will you squeeze it all in elsewhere if you have to?

I am committing to quality over quantity for this marathon block. 3 quality sessions per week. Intervals/tempo Easy run Long run /tempo I find I need 4 days of rest if I execute quality sessions.
