Greens
Hey everybody, I have a question about greens. Do you sometimes only have cucumber/zucchini or other type of vegetables? I am used to have some sort of green everyday like lettuce, arugula, spinach etc but tonight, I am only having zucchini noodles and broccoli with some tomatoes, celery and hemp seed sauce and I don’t feel to have a salad aside. Is it important to have leafy greens everyday? Or does cucumber, zucchini, celery and other vegetables count too? Enjoy!

I think it definitely counts. As I've understood, all the kitchen vegetables (hence the cucumbers, tomato, zucchinis, squashes etc...) count as "greens". It is a bit counter intuitive. I eat proper leaves maybe 4 days a week, the others I just have cucumbers/celery in general.
Fruit Storage
Dear 80/10/10 Community, I have been following this diet since 1,5 years and it’s going great. One topic I have yet not been able to solve intelligently, is fruit storage. How do you store large quantities of fruit, like 100-120kg of bananas, keeping in mind the following aspects: 1. Easy Maintenance: The storage system must allow for simple and thorough cleaning to ensure hygiene. 2. Gentle Handling: Fruits should not be stacked excessively to avoid bruising or damage, requiring ample surface area. 3. Pest Prevention: The solution must effectively deter insects such as ants and fruit flies. In my research, I’ve encountered two approaches: - Industrial-scale systems e.g., climate-controlled ripening rooms, which are oversized, costly, and unnecessary for my needs, as I do not require accelerated ripening. - Household Solutions e.g., sealed plastic bags or small baskets, which lack airflow or sufficient capacity for bulk storage. The only idea I have been able to come up with is: A customizable stainless steel shelving unit designed as follows: - Adjustable Shelves: Each shelf spaced at 30 cm in height to accommodate a single layer of bananas or similar fruits, eliminating stacking. - Pull-Out Trays: Stainless steel trays mounted on sliding rails for easy access to front and back portions of the shelf. Not being perforated and being removable making it easier to clean. - Mesh Enclosure: The entire unit enclosed in stainless steel mesh (1–2 mm aperture) to block pests, with a front mesh door for accessibility. While this design addresses airflow, hygiene (stainless steel is easy to clean), and pest control, I would prefer to avoid custom fabrication. Please share how you store your fruit 🙏

You wanna maintain a 100kg banana rotation all the time ? Bananas don't ripen so well in a case, so the shelves are a good idea. The best in my opinion is to hang them (I used to do it for a 10-15kg banana permanent stash, using little metal hooks on a wooden shelve). 30 cm is a good spacing. Make sure to lie the bananas down properly so they don't damage themselves when ripe. It's a very good idea to have sliding shelves, as moving around bananas often bruise them ; better to move the support. The two solutions you are talking about are not manageable : a sealed bag is only gonna speed the ripening one day, and might end up in molding. With air flow the taste is better. You'll have to figure out the temperature and humidity : typically the higher the hotter in a room, and the closer to the heating system the drier. Bananas don't like it dry ! For temperature below 18°C bananas don't ripen so well. Above 28°C they ripen too fast.
Dental Care Question
I'm going to be starting to brush my teeth once before bed time which for me is around 7am (3rd shifter here on 12 hour shifts at work) and once in the afternoon after my gym workout or if it is an off day before my day starts in the afternoon. So I'm going to start brushing twice because I've noticed some of my teeth near gum line are starting to look like they may need fillings soon. I'm starting to think that leaving the fruit sugars on my teeth for damn near 24 hours before I brush again isn't a good strategy. What does anybody think about this? How often do you brush your teeth? I also use flouride free toothpaste Tom's of Maine and Tom's of Maine Mouthwash too I think they are some of the least toxic harmful brands out there. What toothpaste and mouthwash do you use?

I brush once before bed, with flossing. From my first meal to the brushing it’s usually 10 hours, so that’s perfectly fine for me ! Did you say 7am ? Or 7pm ? I use a simple Fluor free toothpaste, with a mild taste. Can’t see why Fluor would be necessary.
Bodyweight training
Hi there fellow 811 athletes! I've been enjoying bw training recently, namely I've been doing the Reddit r/bodyweightfitness beginner recommended routine 3-4 times a week and I feel like it's more enjoyable feeling after workout compared to lifting weights. Anyone else into bw/calisthenics training on here? How long have you been doing it. What's your current routine? How are you progressing? I know Dr D prefers weights b/c it's more objectively comparable and b/c bw is less effective in building bone density apparently.

I do both ! Most of my chalestenics will revolve around handstands and core workouts. I use weights for my grip and pull up strength (rock climber), but also with planks and core. I always keep it high weight low rep (currently at 45/50 kg one rep pull up), as I’m not looking for muscle mass. Personally I love the feeling after the weight training ! Feels like a proper deep workout. More than bw. I’d say two times a week for the weights, and on other days handstands and core. So at least 4 days a week. I keep it short because I keep most of my energy for actual rock climbing and running !
Strong cravings for vegetables
Hey I have been suffering from lots of ailments for many years, many attempts to go raw that didn’t go well, etc. One thing I noticed is that every time I choose to give up salt and attempt to apply a raw diet, I crave vegetables badly, specifically celery and tomatoes. I can eat 3kg of celery a day as well as 2-3 kg of tomatoes. I crave it more than fruits. (That being said, this amount of celery makes me really gassy and have a negative impact on my body odor). Has anyone experienced such strong cravings, and if so, did they go away? I always end up giving up and going back to salt and cooked food cause it just feels like unreasonable amounts. Now, I could possibly push through and sayisfy my cravings if I knew this was gonna last 1-4 weeks for example and then subside, but if these are the amounts I’m gonna have to eat every day, as well as suffer the consequences of eating this excessive amount of celery, in order to meet my electrolyte needs… Then I find it extremely unsustainable in every possible way - financially, practically and physically. Would appreciate any advice or insight on the topic. Thanks!

Melons, like the charentais and the piel de sapo, as well as the canary, have quite a lot of sodium in them, and they will provide sugar to satiate you as well. 3kg of celery is a LOT, there also is a lot of other compounds in celery that are harmful in high quantities. I eat celery throughout winter/spring, and enjoy melons the rest of the year. I find the taste of celery almost abhorrent when I eat the melons.
