Indian Tacos in Bly, OR
This was one of two big meals today! Indian tacos with lots of barbq chicken, some beans, a bit of lettuce, peppers, and a curious version of guacamole. From a roadside stand in Bly that is quite popular and just one of those quirky Oregon places that makes you feel welcome. This was not gluten-free, ha! Much later, I did have gluten- free Annie’s mac n cheese, a salad, fresh cherries. Huge appetite day-after the bike ride!

Van breakfast pre ride
I’m in my van getting ready to do a ride and didn’t feel like making a big breakfast. Instant oats is what it is.

Instant oats are one of god’s gifts IMHO. How was your ride?
Biking and eating in Lakeview, OR
After years of mostly not riding any of my bikes, I am gradually getting back in the saddle. Today my wife and I did a 30-miler road bike ā€œTour de Outbackā€ in Lakeview, OR. A beautiful ride, with hills I could manage on my ā€œmuscle bikeā€ (learned today that term is used vs an e-bike). however, diet was definitely walloped. Last night’s pre-ride dinner was pizza, today’s post ride lunch was bar b q’d chicken, mac salad, coleslaw, a roll. Somewhere in there, berry pie and ice cream. No food pics to share, but below are pics of the ride. I did take extra good care of myself before and during the ride as far as hydration (wore a hydration pack - so easy) and food esp enough protein and healthier carbs as they were available.

@Adam Koller The organized/supported ride we just did, Tour de Outback, will next be held on June 26, 2027. And then we learned the Oregon Timber Trail has this unsupported but popular annual bike trek which starts in Lakeview July 11th, 2026, ends in The Dalles! Many days of bike-packing to get across Oregon, some towns and cities along the way but long stretches of remote beauty as well. (The Sisters Tie Trail overlaps the Timber Trail for awhile. ). You go at your own pace. Wild ! not for me exactly but sharing the idea. And of course you could do it anytime - weather permitting - on your own. oregontimbertrail.org

Thank you, Kelsey! always fun to share bike adventures. There were some amazing people doing this ride.
Dinner (and an upcoming game)
You guessed it: a big ass salad with flank steak, avocado and blueberries.

on the road
Yesterday was preparing for, now on a camping/biking trip, last night made it to our first camping site and walked a mile to the restaurant there…Lake of the Woods resort in Oregon. A fabulous place, if you ever get the chance. Dinner: Steelhead trout, baked potato, asparagus. A small green salad for starters. All good!
